Just Say NO to Sugar
From the first day we get our first taste of candy it is hard to stop the sugar rush. Kids are especially drawn to sweets and candy soon leads to soft drinks that in turn precede coffee as we learn a pattern of jolting our bodies awake with high levels of fructose, sucrose and other sugars. Unfortunately sugar has a down side too.
High consumption of sugar can lead to minor problems such as jittery nerves and hyper-activity or more serious conditions such as diabetes, increased heart rate and in some cases anxiety and panic attacks. Cutting sugar levels in your diet can lead to a healthier lifestyle.
For many the problem becomes what to replace sugar with. Sugar is in so many of the drinks we use that it is hard to find good-tasting beverages that don't include sugar or some sort of artificial sweetener that can be more harmful than natural sugar. It is also difficult to put the brakes on a learned behavior pattern that works.
Sugar does give people a rush and for a period of time can make you feel alert and awake. However, there is what's known as the "sugar crash" which is the uncomfortable, frustrating and depressing feeling that comes when a large amount of sugar has been ingested and is starting to wear off.
In an effort to combat the need for sugar more drink and beverage manufacturers are looking for alternatives to sugars and artificial sweeteners that can keep people alert without making them feel drowsy. Tranquila is one such beverage that uses a proprietary blend of herbal extract, vitamins and natural flavors to produce a great tasting relaxation shot drink that gives users a subtle sense of calm and a noticeable improvement in mood.
Studies are beginning to show that workers who bypass on more caffeine and sugar in the afternoon have more focus and more sustainable energy than those who juice up on coffee, soft drinks and sports energy drinks. Sugar isn't an evil substance on its own and in fact sugar is required by the human body to function normally but people tend to abuse good things and sugar is one of the most overused ingredients in daily diets.
Lessening your sugar intake during the day can lead to more natural energy, less stress and anxiety and fewer "crashing" moments. But be careful to closely inspect the labels of the drinks you are buying to ensure there isn't some form of sugar in the drink. Tranquila and other relaxation beverages proudly claim to have sugar-free drinks and when used as a dietary supplement offers a smart alternative to caffeine and sugar.
