The New Lifestyle Beverage
Forget the 80's and 90's. Anyone who was around for the turn of the century knows how hectic and fast-paced we tried to be. From inflated stock markets and dot.com bubbles to outrageous mortgage schemes and 24-hour reality television we were under assault from every direction with unrealistic expectations and a go-go-go mentality that had no direction or brakes. Fueled by anxiety concerning the 21st century and aided by the full force of the information age and its vehicles including the Internet, cell phones and GPS navigation we really put ourselves in the eye of a crazy hurricane.
OK, it's been 10 years since we made the leap from 1999 to 2000 and now having exhausted our nerves trying to keep up with the lightning fast digital revolution people are taking much needed steps back and re-thinking their approach to the future. It seems all the past decade did was make us more stressed out while instead of advancing we actually regressed as the housing market tanked, retirement funds were wiped out and what we thought were sure things went bankrupt before our eyes.
Many people stayed alert during this time with coffee and other heavily caffeinated beverages including sugar-laced soft drinks and energy drinks loaded with ginseng, creatine and maltodextrin. Sure it kept us awake but whether or not our energy was put to good use is now debatable.
Really, are you better off now then you were 10 years ago? Did 50+ hour work weeks and 4-hour sleep patterns get you where you really want to be? Don't be surprised if you feel a little confused. Everyone has experienced the disillusionment of the modern age but that feeling is part of a lifestyle change that has people passing on energy and opting for calm instead.
Far from perfect and just fine with it people today are tired of the overly-aggressive approach to life that has made very few happy. Advertising has become a mind-warping exercise in making people feel they need full-speed to accomplish anything. But the tank is empty and folks now just want to relax. It's not that people are lazy or ambivalent, but they just want the noise and stress to stop, if only for a little while.
The new beverage for the brave souls who aren't afraid to step off the fast track are great-tasting relaxation drinks such as Tranquila Original and Tranquila PM that combine soothing green-tea and lemon flavors to produce a feeling of calm and well-being. Rather than chug another cup of coffee or get hyped up on a heavily caffeinated soft drink people today are deciding instead to chill out and relax for a few minutes before going back to work or dealing with a house full of kids and pets.
No one can say what the next generation will be or what trends will dominate fashion and style but one thing is for certain, the days of ramming ahead with caffeine and ginseng are over and done with. The new lifestyle is chill and relaxed, people who can step back, analyze a situation and make an informed decision on how to proceed. Who knows how long it will last but at least the ride will be nice and smooth for a change.
